NOVEMBER 2013 MEETING MINUTES

 

The regular membership of the Snake River Bassmasters, Inc., was called to order by President Horrace at 7:05 P.M. on November 3rd at Jason’s house in Meridian.  There were 21 club members.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

 

 

CONSERVATION / WILDLIFE COUNCIL: no report

§  SRB needs a conservation director if anyone wants to volunteer.

§   Lake Lowell plan hasn’t been released yet.

§  Fish fizzing seminar at first tournament.

 

IDAHO BASS FEDERATION: Bill Kriner gave the following Federation report:

§  The Federation is looking into making motor bands since we are having problems buying them.  The material is ordered and should be here in November. Price will be $25 per band in quantities under 25, $19 per band for 26 - 50, and $18 per band for 51 and up.

§  2014 Banquet planning.  New location at the Meridian Senior Center is being researched and once identified, will be booked promptly.  A larger venue is needed.

§  All Qualifier tournaments complete and State Team is selected.

§  30 day sign-up rule will be reviewed for 2014.

§  There are still nominating federation officers and a secretary is needed.  The remaining postings are holding their positions.

 

YOUTH: Youth Director Jason Bousquet reported:

§  Jason is looking at possibly holding the Youth Open on a different body of water next year, maybe Swan Falls Reservoir.

§  July on CJ Strike for youth open.

 

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: Tournament director Jay Bagley reported:

§  Club needs to try and build up club numbers for next year so that we can pay out more than two spots in club tournaments.

§  Club needs to look into ways of reducing fish mortality. Ideas include going back to using the portable air pumps for weigh bags, looking into a wet-weigh system and buying or encouraging the use of catch-n-release chemicals.

§  Sending a thank you to Bargain Boat Parts, everyone needs to spend money as a way of showing thank you.

§  2014 tournament ideas; Lucky Peak, Walcott, Dworshak, Anderson Ranch, possibly share a permit with Lakeside Bass for Lake Lowell.

 

 CLASSIC / HAN: Directors Steve Day reported:

§  2014 SRB Classic will be held on Owyhee on June 7th.  On Sunday June 8th, SRB will hold the Jack & Jill open.

 

SNAKE RIVER LADY BASS:

§  Everyone needs to remember to bring a can of food or a dollar to each meeting for the Needy Family program. Tom will collect the money / food.

§  2014 Lady Bass open to be in July

§  Received a letter from Love INC. that they found a family for our needy family food drive.

 

OLD BUSINESS:        

§  Still waiting to see what happens at Lake Lowell to determine whether we continue the trash pickups.

§  SRB nominations are all voted in.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

·         Another by-law concerning the tournament entries and payout needs updated; we will discuss it at the banquet meeting.

·         A discussion was held about changing the dead fish penalty for both the club tournaments and club open tournament to a progressive penalty that increase with the number of dead fish.  It was determined to make a penalty of 0.5 pounds per dead fish. This will also be enforced for the open tournament.

·         Snow Bowl team placed 3rd with  55 lbs; The $300 entry was paid back to the club and the Snow Bowl team voted to donate the winnings of $84 to the need family program.

 

There being no more business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.  The next meeting will be the banquet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2  at IHOP in Nampa.
