MARCH 7, 2011 MEETING MINUTES

 

The regular membership of the Snake River Bassmasters, Inc., was called to order by president Tom Horrace at 7:30 P.M. at Denny's Restaurant.  There were 7 club and family members present.

 

Meeting minutes from the February meeting were reviewed and approved.

 

TREASURY REPORT:

It was noted that the check written for the Needy Family project was not on the Treasury Report; it will be fixed. Treasury Report was reviewed and approved.

 

INTRODUCTIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

J    New member Chuck Caba was introduced.

J    Jason and Kira Bousquet has a new daughter: Trinity Jo.  Info and a picture are on the SRB website.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:       President Horrace asked for committee reports:

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

 

CONSERVATION / WILDLIFE COUNCIL: Conservation Officer Jason Bousquet was at the hospital with a new baby:

J    The Federation is looking at doing another structure plant in Cascade; the assembly will be on March 12.

J    We might look at sponsoring a carp shoot at Lake Lowell to help reduce the population.

J    There may be another crappie transplant by IDFG at C.J. Strike this spring.

J    Jason is looking for more conservation suggestions.

 

IDAHO BASS FEDERATION: Roger Sheltrown gave the following Federation report:

J    There will be 2 Youth Championships this year so that the kids will be ready a year ahead; both are on Cascade Reservoir.

J    The Federation is looking at holding a High School Championship on C.J. Strike on May 1

J    Ultimate Championship Tournament: people that fish 4 opens or Qualifiers, pay an extra $50 option can fish it.  Our HSN tournament is on the list as a qualifying tournament.

J    Idaho is hosting the TBF Regional Championship in 2012. They are mainly looking at C.J. Strike and Lake Lowell as waters to fish.

J    IDFG is looking at trying to poison carp in Lake Lowell next spring; if they do the Federation is going to try and save some of the bass and transplant them.

J    The Sport Show was Mar. 3 - 6; SRB did a kid's casting event Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. A big thanks to the people that came down to help.

J    The Federation wants us to run a booth at the Cabela's Show March 19 & 20; no kid's casting, just talk to people and answer questions.  This is a good opportunity to recruit new members for the club.

J    Discussion on changing the Federation Banquet from Nov. to Feb. and possibly hold it in Twin Falls.

 

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: Tournament director Steve Day reported:

J    Lakeside Bass has the July 9 permit on Cascade. We are working with IDFG to get a second permit for our Youth Open.

J    There is still a possibility of holding a Lady Bass tournament on the day after the Youth Open.  The permit should be good for two days.

J    Everyone fishing the Brownlee tournament needs to pay their dues and all boaters need to get a copy of the boat insurance to Steve BEFORE fishing.


YOUTH: Youth Director Cody Murray was not present and did not report

J    No report

J    Jason has applied with Cabela's for donations for the youth open tournament.

 

CLASSIC / HAN: Directors Steve Day and Bill Kriner  reported:

J    The  2011 Hot Summer Night tournament is scheduled for the full moon on Saturday Aug. 13

J    It was decided to buy $200 worth of BSU items to be autographed by BSU players.  The items will be raffled off at tournaments or maybe sold on e-bay to raise money for youth and Lady Bass projects.

 

SNAKE RIVER LADY BASS:

J    Everyone needs to remember to bring a can of food or a dollar to each meeting for the Needy Family program. Tom will collect the money / food.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

J    None

 

NEW BUSINESS:

J    A discussion on allowing winners at club tournaments to choose between a plaque or having the plaque money added to his/her payout.  A motion was made to amend the by-laws so that payout at club tournaments will be 1 payout for each 5 boats instead of the current 3 places regardless of how many or few boats there are.

J    Everyone still needs to keep an eye open for a better meeting location.

 

There being no more new business, President Horrace reminded all that the next meeting would be April 4 at Denny's Restaurant in Nampa.  The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
